Contamination is common in modern diesel fuel. Failure to regularly inspect and maintain your tanks and stored fuel can result in emergency, mission-critical equipment failing when you need it most. In the case of a hospital, for instance, the failure of back-up generators during a power outage could be a life and death situation for vulnerable patients and a potential disaster waiting to happen.

In accordance with BSI 5410, stored diesel fuel should be tested for a wide variety of contaminants. Andel provides 6-monthly testing for a range of problems that frequently occur in stored diesel fuel including:

• Wear (metal particulates in the fuel)

DEFRA’s guidance on the law states that: ‘It is recommended that oil storage tanks and ancillary equipment are inspected on an annual basis by an OFTEC Registered Technician’.

Each Andel inspection is carried out by an OFTEC registered and fully qualified technician (OFTEC 600A) and provides a full report for all on-site oil storage, including a detailed survey for each container, a full summary of the findings and items for future attention.

Andel’s Annual Oil Storage Compliance Inspections go beyond standard OFTEC recommendations to give you total peace of mind that your oil storage remains compliant with all current regulations.

Regular fuel oil sampling provides effective early warning of potential problems. A typical Andel site sampling visit can be completed in a day with our independent laboratories providing a comprehensive analysis, identifying degraded fuel and reporting on tank condition.

Andel can remove contaminated fuel, clean your tanks, ‘polish’ (clean) the fuel oil using specialist state-of-the-art remedial equipment, and return the refreshed fuel to the clean tank.

Andel can also install permanent fuel oil polishing systems to your tanks to regularly circulate the oil and clean it of contaminants.

Andel operatives will undertake any bund maintenance work as required as well as new bund installations. Andel ReBund™ is an innovative modular, bunding system. Robust, cost-effective and easy to install, ReBund™ is constructed from 100% post-industrial plastic waste, with steel reinforcement for added strength. ReBund™ can be installed quickly as a new build project or retro-fitted to existing oil storage sites.

Current regulations state that all oil storage tanks above ground MUST have secondary containment. If you are a site operator you have duty of care to prevent leaks from equipment such as fuel containers and transformers polluting the environment. Andel specialise in bund (secondary containment) maintenance and installation.
